Basket Bush

Basket Bush (Spyridium globulosum)

Basket Bush grows near the coast, by estuaries and on Perth’s offshore islands.  When exposed to salty sea winds, it will keep low and spread out.  If protected in a forest, further from the ocean, it grows taller, up to 4-5 m, and more sparse and spindly.  The common form of basket bush has leaves that are green on the outside and almost white on the underside.  Dead leaves are yellow in appearance.  Abundant tiny flowers are produced in winter.
