Common Sheoak

Common Sheoak (Allocasuarina fraseriana)

A common tree on the coastal plain, and in the Darling Range, growing to 8-15 m. On the plain to the north of Perth it is less abundant due to the drier conditions. In autumn, male sheoaks produce many tiny brown flowers, which give the trees a brown complexion. Female trees produce reddish-brown cones.
